There are so many articles explaining how a pixie has created the confidence and freedom for women who have been hiding behind long hair. As Spring approaches, so will the demand for shorter haircuts! To help, we have gathered #protips for designing a perfect pixie.
“To me, a pixie is a rounded shape hugging the head while lengthening and adding texture at the same time,” says Briana Cisneros, Wella Professionals Hair Color Global Ambassador.
Briana not only rocks the cutest pixie cut, but we are also sharing 5 of her tips to cutting the perfect one:
1. When approaching the haircut, start where you want to make the most impact – like a shaggy fringe or a detailed perimeter.
2. The small triangle in the front section of the fringe can make or break the entire cut because you will be adding length in each section.
3. If you are newer to perfecting your pixie haircuts, sectioning is the easiest way to learn and communicate where to cut and make the next move.
4. To add extra texture, you want to remove weight with channel cutting while saving the ends to create a “piecey look”.
5. Tension is very important. Focusing on keeping tension and adding more tension by pinching your fingertips is key to sculpting the perfect cut.
#ProTip: Before you use a straight blade on a razor, take an introduction class! Especially if a client has curly hair, learning to use a razor has become Briana’s number one tool of choice!
