What do you love about the pro beauty industry?
I love the career diversity in our industry. From stylist to sales managers, to educators, to marketing the possibilities are limitless and so much fun.
What is the most meaningful part of your role as a Black artist in beauty?
I love being an educator! It brings me so much joy to share something that I am so passionate about. It’s also great to display my diversity in working with all hair types.
What is fun fact about you?
I’m also a beauty queen. I’m the reigning Ms. USA World Universal.
Who is someone that inspires you most?
Definitely my mother. She is my best friend but also really inspired me to become a hairstylist. She had a new hairstyle almost every week!
What is your favorite Wella, Nioxin, OPI, ghd, Clairol, Color Charm, Kadus or Sebastian Product and why?
Ugh, this is an impossible question! If I had to pick one, it would be my GHD Platinum+ styler. It’s the only hot tool that I actually have in my station because it can do anything.
Do you have any tips for those who are uncomfortable servicing textured hair?
Knowledge is power. Find someone who is good with textured hair and learn from them. You have the skill, it’s just a matter of confidence.
