What do you love about the pro beauty industry?
I love being able to be creative in my work, especially when it comes to color. I love it when client says “do whatever you want to my hair!” My favorite is watching my clients’ reaction and seeing the smile on their face after I’m finished. I feel I made a difference in their day.
What is the most meaningful part of your role as a female artist in beauty?
Being able to connect to other female clients on a person level. Most clients sit in my chair for 2+ hours. It’s being a good listener and providing a space for my clients to be vulnerable especially even more so during these times. I also love keeping up with the latest trends and being able to update or change their looks to keep clients modern and chic.
What is your favorite Wella, Nioxin, OPI, Clairol, Color Charm, Kadus or Sebastian product and why?
Wellaplex – it keeping the integrity of clients’ hair is very important. I work with a lot of bleach and my specialty is color so this provides protection in that process.
Do you have any advice for female stylists trying to grow their career?
Focus on a specific category and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, THEN MASTER IT! Social media is a great platform to start building and showing off your work. Get your clients in the habit of pre-booking their next appointment with you.
