Meet Wella Color Expert Meiju Thornley
Over the last 4.5 years, Wella Color Expert Meiju Thornley has worked on the global development of SHINEFINITY, the latest and most innovative demi-permanent line from Wella Professionals, designed to deliver true-to-tone color with zero lift, zero damage, while providing long-lasting color results. Meiju has worked in the professional hair industry for 20 years. She started her career in Sweden in a large Wella salon, where her passion for products began. Hairstyling has taken Meiju worldwide, allowing her to work in Australia, the UK, and now most recently in Switzerland. With a great passion for all things color Meiju landed a dream job with Wella Professionals in 2010. After starting her career with Wella, she has held many roles. Meiju is currently based in beautiful Geneva, where she has also worked on fantastic color initiatives such as Koleston Perfect, Wella Professionals purest permanent hair color cream.
Meiju recently shared the details of her experience working on the creation of SHINEFINITY, explaining that she was involved in many aspects of the development of this remarkable demi-glaze. Her most memorable moments include her time spent working with numerous scientists to develop the perfect shade palette—herself, along with many other fantastic hair colorists such as Patricia Nikole, collaborated to bring to life the needs of hair artists around the world. Meiju also developed the global SHINEFINITY education materials, such as technical guides, color charts, and educational videos which can be found on the Wella Professionals App.
When asked to share one of the complex aspects of developing a brand-new color line, Meiju revealed that an unbelievable amount of time is spent just testing formulas before hair colorists get to play with the shades! She also mentioned the most rewarding part of creating products is when they finally launch, and you get to see stylists worldwide start using the products. She mentioned that this is extremely enjoyable to see with the launch of SHINEFINITY because this is the first demi-glaze launched by Wella Professionals.
