What do you love about the pro beauty industry? There are so many avenues in this industry to explore, from being a stylist or educator to working commercials or high fashion. The opportunity is there and its forever growing!
What is the most meaningful part of your role as a Black artist in beauty? Besides making people look and feel beautiful, is being able to incorporate black culture in my styling and watching how the looks evolve and become staple styles in beauty and fashion as well as all over the world.
What is fun fact about you? I rarely wear tall wedge shoes with long dresses because I fall every time! I am so clumsy lol! Whenever I see a model on the runway lose her balance or wobble, I can definitely relate!
Who is someone that inspires you most? Beauty pro Pekela Riley inspires me most. She is the epitome of a beauty entrepreneur experiencing different areas of the beauty industry.
What is your favorite Wella, Nioxin, OPI, ghd, Clairol, Color Charm, Kadus or Sebastian product and why? Koleston Perfect permanent hair color is one of my favorite products because of the variety of true shades that enhance natural hair colors with depth and shine. They also provide up to 100% grey coverage. I also love the Luminous Smoothing oil because it adds a glossy shine while still leaving the hair light and airy!
Do you have any tips for those who are uncomfortable servicing textured hair? If you’re uncomfortable styling textured hair remember that product is key! Saturate hair with ample enough product according to hair density and texture. Separate hair into small sections to make textured hair easier to control while detangling. Don’t stress, just take it one section at a time.
