Ryan Weeden is the founder of MOB (Masters of Balayage) and has coined the term “Million Dollar Money Piece” because he takes the popular money piece and makes it worth a million bucks to clients! See Ryan’s step-by-step process and video below and tag #milliondollarpiece so he can see your work! Starting Point: Warm Natural Level 6
Goal: Strong, Light, Natural Face Frame that has a soft grow out for low maintenance.
Before you begin:
- Always start with the natural parting
- Decide how much blonde the client wants in the front
Step One: Two back-to-back thin slices: Leaving one inch free of lightener at the top of the section, paint Blondor Multi Blonde Powder onto the rest of the fine slice, be sure to separate this wide section into a left side and a right side to make your life easier and the end result more seamless. After mid-lengths and ends are fully saturated, using the corner of your brush, lightly feather Blondor into the remaining hair near the scalp. Step 2: For the third slice, you will add a long tease to remove about 50% of the weight. This will start the transition to a deeper root to create a “lived-in” look. Heavily saturate the slice and feather Blondor upwards into the top inch of the section.
Step 3: The fourth slice will be slightly thicker but you will still tease back about 50% of the hair. Again, saturate mid-lengths and ends and then feather Blondor upwards toward the scalp.
Step 4: The fifth slice will be even thicker! The goal is to make the sections thicker as you move backward and you will tease about 70% of the hair back. Full saturation is very important.
Step 5: The 6th and final slice will be smallest but you still need to tease the majority of it back and leave 1.5 inches of the root left to feather up.
