Based in Florida, with over 33 years of experience, Jay Thornhill is a globally-trained Wella Professionals Signature Artist responsible for training stylists and educators in the southeastern United States. He is passionate about color science, corrective color, and is certified in Wella CutCraft and Sassoon ABC’s of Cutting. Jay centers his teaching focus on color techniques and how to increase retail sales. He has recently partnered with the research and development team to collaborate and test new Wella Professionals products and initiatives. His true passion is inspiring other salon professionals and helping them grow their careers.

WHAT is your favorite Wella Company HAIRCARE product? My recent favorite has to be Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Miracle Hair Rescue.

WHY is it your favorite? How do you like to use it? I can say I primarily use Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Miracle Hair Rescue on everyone, because who doesn't need a little miracle in their life. I utilize it after every haircolor, highlight or lightening service. After completing the salon haircare routine at the shampoo bowl, I apply "that beautiful mist" of Ultimate Repair Miracle Hair Rescue to the hair. By the time we return back to my station, the 90 seconds needed for the product to work has taken place and we end up with beautifully reconditioned hair. I can not believe the repair that happens. Between the shine, smoothness and feel, it is a must-have for all clients with any type of hair history or damage.

WHAT is your favorite Wella Company STYLING product? My ride or die styling product from the Wella Company has to be: Sebastian Professional Potion 9.

WHY is it your favorite? I was introduced to Potion 9 in the 90’s and I have never been without it. I love that it is a wearable-style treatment and can be used alone, layered, or cocktailed with other products. Potion 9 promotes silky touchable hair with so much shine and smoothness.

HOW do YOU like to use it? I use it on almost every client behind the chair. Prior to cutting to bring the style to life as I am establishing shape in the hair, and again as I detail the hair after styling. It is one of my key products for doing twist outs too.

WHAT is your favorite Wella Company HAIRCOLOR product (overall line, family or shade)? My favorite Wella Company haircolor product has to be Wella Professionals Shinefinity.

WHY is it your favorite? I love the flexibility that Shinefinity offers for glazing, color correction, highlighting refinement, low lights, and the fact that I can expand the palette just by adding heat. I love this color product because of the way it makes the hair feel, the fact that it acts like a deep conditioning treatment, and how it leaves the hair with incredible shine. Hence the saying "a shine you can feel".

HOW do YOU like to use it? I have two favorite shades one is Clear 00/00 (Crystal Glaze), because it offers me the ability to make a very gentle and delicate color, or simply to add shine when used alone. My second favorite shade is 09/13 Very Light Blonde Ash Gold (Toffee Milk) because it is a beautiful gold iridescent that is just the right amount of warmth and cool to create a beautiful shade on the hair.
