FAQ's
- Are products containing TPO banned?
Under new UK regulations, Triphenyl Phosphate (TPO) will no longer be permitted for sale in the UK. This follows similar changes already in place across the EU including Ireland, with the UK now aligning to the same standards.
- Does OPI gel products contain TPO?
Within the OPI portfolio, Intelli‑Gel™ Super Base, Intelli‑Gel™ shades, all Intelli‑Gel™ top coats and all GELevate™ 4-in-1 Builder shades are HEMA and TPO free. The only product in our gel portfolio that currently contains TPO is Stay Strong Base Coat.
- What does the ban mean for you?
From 15 August 2026, a NEW TPO free IntelliGel™ Base Coat will be available in the UK, Super Strong. This will replace the current GelColor Stay Strong Base Coat. This change has already been made in Ireland. Super Base Coat will continue to be available in the UK and Ireland as it does not contain TPO.
From 15 August 2026, we’ll stop selling Stay Strong Base Coat to give you time to use up any stock ahead of the off-shelf ban on 15 February 2027. From this date in 2027, practicing nail technicians in the UK will not be able to purchase products containing TPO from anywhere. However, professionals operating in the UK can still use any products they have already purchased after this date. For more information click here.
