Care-ing for Hair With Conditioner

Care-ing for Hair With Conditioner

Hairstylists know the importance of a customized care and styling regimen, they also know that there is added “color insurance” with the right combination of products. We know that helping clients understand how to properly care for their hair is not an easy task. Other than educating them, you may have to debunk some conditioning myths! Below are five reasons clients should condition their hair and we’ve listed solutions to offer based on hair concern.

5 reasons your clients should be using more conditioner**:**

  1. Closes The Cuticle – Explain to your clients that shampooing is opening their cuticles in order to be thoroughly cleansed. The conditioner works to close the cuticle so that the moisture, nourishment, and color will not escape as quickly.
  2. Adds Shine – What client doesn’t wish they had shiny,healthy-looking hair? Skipping conditioner is likely to leave strands looking and feeling dull and dry.
  3. Fights Frizz and Breakage – For the clients complaining about breakage or frizz, ensure them that conditioners help maintain the elasticity of hair and provide hydration after shampooing. When hair is dry, it tends to reach out toward moisture in the air, creating frizz!
  4. Nourishes and Protects – It works by sealing your hair cuticle to help prevent heat damage and block external elements such as pollution.
  5. Repairing – Hair that desperately needs a conditioner is dry, brittle, and chemically treated. Conditioner is also an essential detangler for all hair types.
Extra Conditioning tips:
  • Don’t apply conditioner to sopping-wet hair. Be sure to wring out your hair before applying conditioner.
  • Use the correct amount depending on their hair type and length.
  • Apply the product to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, unless you are using a conditioner that focuses on scalp health, like Nioxin Scalp Therapy conditioner.
  • Distribute the product evenly. Suggest a wide-toothed comb after application to ensure every strand of hair has been treated.
  • Allow the conditioner to absorb. Your wait time depends on the type of product you use. A rinse-out conditioner only needs a minute or two to absorb, whereas a deep treatment typically takes 5-15 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly. Rinse until your hair feels fully clean and there’s no slippery texture to your hair.
Conditioners can be used in many ways based on their formula! They are meant to be rinsed out, left in, or used occasionally as an intensive treatment. Giving your clients this information will help them see the value in you and your recommendation.
