Artist Spotlight: Diane

Name: Diane Cole Stevens @dianecolestevens
Occupation / Salon Name: Owner, Cole Stevens Salon
What do you love about the pro beauty industry? Everything—all the opportunities available to grow a career in the beauty industry, the connections, the empowerment from charity, the creative trends and making people look and their best.
What is the most meaningful part of your role as a Black artist in beauty? The most meaningful part of my role as a black artist was creating a luxury beauty environment for women with highly textured hair and cultivating an educational environment to help stylists grow their career in all textures.
What is fun fact about you? I love to cook and if I didn’t have a hair salon, I would have opened a restaurant. Also, I love the Philadelphia Eagles and Philly cheesesteaks!!
Who is someone that inspires you most? My husband inspires me every day, he is my mentor and he makes me a better person. He loves my cooking, makes me laugh, he’s ok that I’m a work-a-holic, he laughs at my jokes, he pushes me to be a better person every day, he travels with me everywhere I go, he prays over me over morning—he is my super hero.
What is your favorite Wella, Nioxin, OPI, ghd, Clairol, Color Charm, Kadus or Sebastian product and why? Of course, NIOXIN because my focus is healing hair that needs special attention, i.e. breakage, dryness, frizz.
Do you have any tips for those who are uncomfortable servicing textured hair? Hair is hair, studying is key, and practice is a must.
